Ok this is getting irritating now.

1. Nur Khan is not a nuclear command and control base. Its a legit target, being HQ of PAF Transportation Command. Lets not try and add stuff. 

2. Notably there *are* actual nuclear fascilities nearby, which Indians didn't touch. Chiefly since IAF leadership is not insane.

3. Kirana Hills was a cold testing site back in the 1980's. It was decommissioned in the 1990's and handed back. Its not a "nuclear weapon storage site".

4.  Pakistan doesn't operate on a hair trigger nuclear alert like the US and Russia. It has various levels of alert. During peacetime, a certain amount of asset on quick alert, the rest will be on alert levels which will require several hours to several days notice depending on the state of the asset to make ready.

This crises began on 22nd April. LOC became hot soon. Conflict using airpower began on 7 May. The attack on Kirana hills was on 10th May.

By that time it is certain that every strategic asset, every launcher and warhead is long since dispersed  to their wartime launch sites.

In other words even if right now you attack an actual Pakistani nuclear base, it will do nothing, eveeyone is long gone.

Well IAF won't publicly accept that they know pakistan's nukes location.

And the US was not interested in meditation until these strikes. Something must have happened which caused the US to suddenly change tone and actively intervene.

So, either pakistan was rattled after these strikes to implore nuclear retaliation or india hit near their nuke storage which caused concern in the both pakistan &amp; US. Second seems more plausible to me.

Pakistan called a meeting of their governing body in charge of nukes. Within hours Rubio called Pakistan military head. I’m more inclined to believe a credible threat of using nukes existed. India and Pakistan were both mobilising armies at the IB too. Plenty of escalation signs without any hit too.

Even if we did, why should we agree and strengthen the hand of any other country that wishes to "mediate"? There's a clear advantage to us (maybe not just this, but something else in addition) in denying. Question is, the aircraft is American, the people monitoring radiation on board the aircraft are American, if there really was any radiation leakage, why would they keep quiet about it? They don't lose anything. If it was there, the Americans would have raised an alarm and got the place under defacto NATO supervision in the guise of helping. I don't think there's any leakage. Even the article is made up of speculation from reddit comments. I was reading exactly the same sort of conspiracy theory in reddit subs the last couple of days.

I heard rumors, but haven't heard any confirmation.  All I heard was that the facility was struck and the tunnels collapsed.  When you strike a nuclear weapon with a conventional weapon, typically you get RDD (dirty bomb)-type effects from the high-explosive component detonating and dispersing the fissile material.  You \*shouldn't\* get (much if any) nuclear yield.  But who knows how safely the Pakistani's designed their weapons, and there were claims of "earthquakes" however, my own search of the USGS records showed no quakes in that area in the past week.  Also, If the weapons exploded (non-nuclear detonation) underground, that would have contained much of the fallout.

It's also difficult to impossible to detect dispersed plutonium with consumer equipment.  Kits like the ADM-300 and the AN/PDR-77 have "X-ray" probes that are designed to "find" the low-energy emissions from Am-241.

There was apparently an aircraft designed to detect and map radioactive contamination flying over the area, which would suggest its a possibility. Beyond that though its pure speculation. If there was a small leak, the rest of the world might not know about it unless their government decides to tell us, or a 3rd party like a journalist can gain access to the area with a geiger counter, or more ideally a gamma spec to confirm man-made isotopes. If there was a large leak, most likely at some point the contamination would travel and be detected in a neighboring country, it would be pretty hard to keep a large release of radioactive material quiet from the rest of the world for long.

In the press conference India's DGMO said that they did not hit any nuclear facility, although his body language was suggesting something else.  And just now Pakistan just released one BSF soldier to India who had crossed the LOC few days ago and there was no press no media coverage of it from pakistan side not a single statement came from the pak government oll of this suggests something does happened and the government wants no media attention on it
